At the start of this class, I knew very little about digital photography. I didn't know any of the functions or buttons of the camera or on photoshop. I thought you just point the camera and press the take picture button. I didn't know the different functions where you can make a photo brighter or darker. I also did not know how to focus on the subject. At the start of the class, I only knew how to use the camera in auto. Coming into the class, I also knew absolutely nothing about photoshop. I did't know any of the functions or even how to upload the photos into photoshop. Here are some photos I took at the beginning of class that are not good because I did not know my way around the camera. Throughout this class, I have learned so much. I learned the skills of how to use a point a shoot camera in manual mode. I got more and more comfortable with my camera throughout the tri and with taking pictures of different subjects. I got better at changing the iso, aperture, and shutter speed to control the light and depth of field. I started to enjoy taking pictures because I know knew what I was doing. I got a lot better at photoshop this year by learning the basic tools, adjusting my layers, and making my photos or projects look more clean. Here are some of the photos that I took that are some of my best from the class and one of my photoshop assignments. Overall, I really enjoyed this class. I learned a lot and think I will use it all the rest of my life whether it's taking pictures in photo 2, taking pictures on vacation when I am older, or taking pictures of my kids later in life. I have learned the functions of the cameras and also how to capture good images and personality in people and animals. I am really glad I took this class and I look forward to taking the second part next year to learn even more.

For this assignment, I looked up puns and dictionary words and got my ideas from online and in my head. I tried to make my puns difficult, clever and fun. I then put pictures into photoshop to create the puns. I had to create different layers for the objects in the picture and for some backgrounds. I also used the gradient tool to create color. For dictionary, I choose words that I could represent and make noticeable by the visuals. I put images into photoshop to create my dictionary words and to clean in up and arrange. Puns Dictionary In this assignment, I learned how to adjust my layers and how to play with different fonts. I really enjoyed this assignment because it was fun and we could put creativeness into it.
For photo 6, I decided to do still life. I took pictures of many objects that are still and not moving. For this assignment, I tried to capture the non movement of the object and captured its state of being still. No editing ISO- 400 Shutter- 1/25 Aperture- 4.0 In this assignment, I learned how to set up objects to make the photo spaced out well. I liked still life because it was easy because almost everything is still life and easy to capture.
In this assignment, we took two portrait photos. One in the studio and one with natural light which I did outside. I then put both of the pictures into photoshop and put a white frame around each picture and put them on a canvas that was black so it looked clean and professional. In this assignment, I learned how to use light in the studio and natural light to take most of the shadows off of the subjects face. I also learned what makes a good portrait a good portrait. I learned how to make a frame around a photo in photoshop. I liked this assignment but also struggled at times because we were kind of on our own to try and figure out how to make the frames but I figured it out and it was fun.
For this assignment, I did the topic on shadows. I waited until at night to take the pictures of the shadow of a tree in my pool so the shadow would show up better. I tried to get different angles of the pool to capture the photo. Edited... ISO- 800 Shutter- 1/500 Aperture- 3.2 In this assignment, I learned when to take pictures of shadows and that it is better to take them at night. I struggled with capturing a defined shape of the shadow in the pool.
For this assignment, I first took a picture of my subject with nobody in it. Then I stood in the picture four different times in four different spots. I then dragged all the photos into photoshop and used the photo stack and the lasso tool to put all the people in the same picture so it looks like I am in the picture many times. In this assignment, I learned how to put many subjects into one picture. I struggled with taking the unnecessary shadows away from the subject. I also tried really hard to make it look like the subject was actually there and not cropped in. I really enjoyed this assignment.
For this assignment, I took pictures on a tri pod while moving the camera 1/3 across the picture for a total of 7 pictures. I then dragged them into photoshop where I used photo merge to create a pano. I then cropped out the checker board. In this assignment, I learned how to take pictures while they still overlap and then merge them in photoshop to create a panoramic.
For this assignment, I took pictures of many things on the topic of macro. I tried to get up close along with using the macro feature on the camera. I tried to focus one part of the subject and to blur the background. I also tried to capture good lighting to portray the subject. Shutter: 1/60 Aperture: 2.8 ISO:160 In this assignment, I got better at setting up for the picture for a better display. I also got better at using different features on the camera like the macro.
In this assignment, I took pictures as nature as my topic for this assignment. I tried to capture different plants and flowers from different angles while also using zoom to get close up pictures. I tried to blur the background to make the flower the main subject. Aperture: 4.5 Shutter Speed: 1250 ISO: 100 In this assignment, I learned how to capture different angles of nature from close up. I took pictures outside, so I got better at using the camera in manual and adjusting the camera for high light pictures. I also got better at blurring the background which created a smaller depth of field which I liked for nature.
